If you are familiar with Thai sriracha sauce; red jalapenos are used as a base in this recipe. They are also a very commonly used in Mexican recipe

To utilise your entire jalapeno crop follow the recipe below to convert those red extras into a zingy mexican sauce

Use as a dip, a topping, inside enchiladas or as a chilli addition to any dish you like.

Red Jalapenos Hot Sauce

  1. 30 x red jalapenos, stems removed, sliced lengthways
  2. 1 small brown onion, finely sliced
  3. 4 cloves garlic finely sliced
  4. 1 tbspn fresh oregano
  5. 1/2 tsp both salt & pepper
  6. 1 tbspn honey
  7. 1 tbspn American mustard
  1. Preheat oven to 200deg C
  2. Place sliced jalapenos on a tray with plenty of oil and bake for 1hr - 1hr 15 until some of the jalapenos start to blacken
  3. In a small fry pan heat some oil
  4. Add in onion and garlic and fry stirring 3 minutes
  5. Stir in oregano for a further minute
  6. Only ingredients are cooled add to a food processor with salt, pepper, honey & mustard
  7. Blend until smooth
  8. Taste
