A dark beer is a must to ensure that richer consistency.  Try Franziskaner Weissbier – available;e at Dam Murphys (pictured below) or any other dark beer (or stout)









German Beer Brownie

  1. 1 cup plain flour
  2. 1/4 cup cacao powder
  3. 1 tsp salt
  4. 4 eggs
  5. 1 cup brown sugar
  6. 1/2 cup melted unsalted butter
  7. 3/4 cup dark German beer
  8. 1/2 cup grated chocolate (milk or dark) of your choice
  9. long silicon baking tray
  10. butter for greasing
  1. Preheat oven to 180 deg C
  2. Combine flour, cacao & salt in a large mixing bowl
  3. In a seperate bowl whisk eggs & sugar with an electric beater for 2 minutes
  4. Slowly pour in melted butter and stir well
  5. Transfer wet mix to dry mix and beat with mixer for 2 minutes
  6. Stir in dark beer and half of the grated chocolate
  7. Grease a long silicon baking dish with butter
  8. Pour in batter
  9. sprinkle over remaining chocolate
  10. Bake in oven for 30 minutes
  11. Remove from oven and Transfer to a cooling rack
  12. Cool slightly and serve
