This is my own recipe for a German inspired stuffed roma tomato snack. A unique way to jazz up a platter or even use as a garnish or on top of a salad. Of course anything can be used for the filling. I do recommend a thick cottage cheese to prevent the filling from dripping out. 

All you simply need is some large cherry roma tomatoes. Slice them with knife to create  2 large slits at the top for the filling. Poke a small hole at the bottom . The white end of a green onion is then placed inside the tomato. This is very easy to do.

My filling consists of:

  • 1 cup cottage cheese
  • 1 tbspn finely chopped dill
  • 1 tspn finely chopped onion
  • salt and pepper

Carefully (with a teaspoon) stuff a little filling into each tomato tulip and place a plate to serve. These can be refrigerated for a few hours prior to serving if needed.
